Hot Weather Policy

The SAAWA is committed to the SA Office of Rec. & Sport Hot Weather Policy. This policy gives guidelines for Sports activities in hot weather on issues such as athlete safety with respect to Heat Exhaustion, Dehydration, Heat Stroke. This policy can be viewed here.

The Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) is one way of determining the risk factor. The higher the WBGT the higher the risk. Below is the recognised relation between WBGT and Heat Injury

WBGT = 23 - 27 Degrees - Risk is Moderate
WBGT = 28 - 29 Degrees - Risk is High
WBGT = Above 29 Degrees - Extreme

Anti-Doping Policy

The SAAWA does not tolerate the use of performance enhancing doping practices and follows the policy of our national body, Australian Wrestling Union www.wrestling.com.au -> Info -> Policies.

Doping practices are prohibited in sport because they:
• can artificially enhance sports performance
• can harm the health of athletes
• are contrary to the spirit of sport.

The SAAWA does NOT infringe upon the rights of Smokers, but only where they are permitted to smoke on club premises. See the Policy here
